Hancock Farm is a small family-owned dairy. The farm is operated by Rickey and Sandy Evangelista, along with their daughter Beth Wilson. The farm consists of 70 head of dairy cows most of which are Ayrshire cattle. We milk an average of 25 head year round. The cows are housed in a 200 head free stall barn with access to pasture year round. We never feed our animals unnecessary antibiotics to prevent them from getting sick. If a cow does become ill we do medicate them and if they are part of the milking herd their milk does not enter back into the tank until the medication is fully out of their system, which means our milk is antibiotic free. We do not use artificial growth hormones on any of our cows; therefore, all of our milk is free of artificial hormones as well.
Rickey trucks most of the raw milk to Puleo’s Dairy in Salem, MA where it is Vat Pasteurized and then made into Whole, Skim and Chocolate milk, along with Light and Whipping (Heavy) Cream and an assortment of Ice Cream. The products are brought back to the farm and sold on home delivery routes and at Farmer’s Markets. The remaining milk is made into Ayrshire Fresh Farmers’ Cheese at their Farmstead cheese house. The cheese is also sold at the Farmers Markets, and to home delivery customers. You can also find the cheese at Clover Hill Country store in Hardwick, MA and at Green Fields Market in Greenfield, MA.
Our mission is clear:
To have a sustainable family business that provides a quality product with no harsh chemicals, additives, and/or artificial growth hormones, while providing a quality life style for our cows.
